Big Boy.

Writer's picture: Lori LeeLori Lee

If you've been blessed enough to meet Mike Padgett, you'll know exactly where I'm coming from.

Mike's a man that walks into a room and respectfully demands attention. He is intelligent, tall in stature, somewhat loud, and most remarkably kind & loving. If the room contains two people or two hundred, Mike would not dare exit until everyone has been dignified with his greeting of graciousness.

Mike's daddy, Bill, owned a grocery store. From the time Mike was a small child, his daddy would take him in the early morning to work.

"Come on, big boy,"

. . . his daddy would say from the dark doorway of his bedroom on Heiskell Avenue. And before the dawn arrived, Bill and Mike were sitting in the truck, praying together before the rest of Lonsdale's day even thought of beginning.
